Running Array Management Commands

There are two ways to access an array and run array management commands:

• If a network connection is available, you can use telnet or SSH to connect to an array through an IP address assigned to a network interface on the array (for example, eth0). Do not connect to the group IP address.
• Use the null modem cable (or cables) shipped with the array to connect Serial Port 0 on the active control module to a console or a computer running a terminal emulator. (The active control module’s ACT LED is green.) How you make a serial connection depends on the control module model:
• A serial connection to an array installed with Model 70-0101 (Type 3) control modules (blue face plate, single serial port, vertical installation) requires a null modem cable with two DB9, 9-pin, female connectors.
• A serial connection to an array installed with Model 70-0011 (Type 2) control modules (blue face plate, single serial port, horizontal installation) requires a null modem cable with one RJ45 connector and one DB9, 9-pin, female connector.
• A serial connection to an array installed with Model 70-0001 (Type 1) control modules (dark gray face plate, two serial ports, horizontal installation) requires a Micro-D serial adapter cable and a null modem cable with two DB9, 9-pin female connectors.

The following serial connection characteristics are required for CLI access:

• 9600 baud
• One STOP bit
• No parity
• 8 data bits
• No hardware flow control
